Fixing Old Photos

... past times is fixing old photos and colourizing them i usually do this

There might have been times when you went to visit your friends at their homes and maybe you needed to check your emails while you were there, you sit down behind that computer and it takes half the time to load up, seconds faster to connect on you friends system. So jealous now, thinking do I need a new computer, no I want a new computer. STOP!!

What I am about to show you, are 1 of 3 simple steps to help you speed up your home computer.

HARDWARE BOOST

You want a fast computer put fast parts in. Sounds simple.

You have two types of PC's, all new 12 month computer with up to date hardware and components.

Then you have your 3 year, slightly out dated PC, behind with technology understandably slower.

Consider, do you want your PC for gaming, home or office? Specifications vary for what task you want your PC to complete.

  • Upgrade your CPU (Processors): The Heart of your computer, controls the core speed. Information passes through here, depending on your processor depends on the speed it works. Getting rid of that old PENTIUM D processors and swapping it with a Core Quad chip processor. INSTANT results, 30% increase in performance.
  • Upgrading RAM (Memory): Random Access Memory, releases immediate data to the computer. Replacing your 215MB with a 2GB Memory upgrade is cheap, easy and increases every day performance by 2%. Not a huge difference but can cost as little as 16.
  • Upgrading the Hard drive (Data Storage): Holds and stores all those photos, documents, your music and games. You might have 250-500GB capacity running at 7200 rpm, great, huge all you need for normal every day computing at home or office. Upgrade to the new SSD (Solid State Drive) promises to speed up the process of sending information from storage to use on your computer. You lose space on the new SSD and it is very expensive but can increase general computing by 8% and gaming by 18.5%.
  • Upgrading Graphics Cards (Visual): Finer graphics, higher resolution less lagging. Upgrading Graphics cards will be a must do for gamers. The new Radeon HD graphics card can boost gaming performance by 100%. However does not increase general PC performances and applications.

Upgrading all 4 components above can improve an old computers performance by 50-70% and gaming performance by 100%+, however is it worth spending all that money on those parts above? Here is a breakdown on average for each upgrade (prices vary):

  1. CPU-Athlon II X4 635 Quad Core Processor 70
  2. RAM-1GB 800MHz XMS2 DDR2 CORSAIR 15
  3. SSD- Crucial 128GB Real SSD 174
  4. Graphics Card-Radeon HD 5770Vapor-X 100

So complete multi system upgrade could cost you 350+, wow I can buy a new PC for that. I agree with that.

You do not have to upgrade your complete system, try to focus on performance bottlenecks, improve on the areas that let your PC down for the tasks you wish to complete on it.

To find these bottle necks follow this- CONTROL PANEL - SYSTEM AND SECURITY - SYSTEM click on WINDOWS EXPERIENCE INDEX.

WARNING!! Before you jump into your car or get on the bus and head off to your nearest computer shop you will need to ensure that the components you wish to buy are compatible with your MOTHERBOARD and each other. Failure to check may result in major system error.

So that is step 1 complete, research, shop about and get that computer upgraded.

Look forward to step 2SOFTWARE SPEED BOOSTS.
